The combined Annual Scientific Meeting of the Haematology Society of Australia and New Zealand (HSANZ), the Australian and New Zealand Society of Blood Transfusion (ANZSBT) and the Australasian Society of Thrombosis and Haemostasis (ASTH) will be held at the Adelaide Convention Centre from 18 to 21 October 2009. The Centre has a prime location between cosmopolitan downtown Adelaide and the picturesque banks of the Torrens River.
HAA 2009 will be a feast of knowledge featuring new and important developments in the fields of haematology, blood transfusion, haemostasis and thrombosis at medical, scientific and nursing levels. Leukaemias/lymphomas, myeloproliferative diseases and bone marrow failure syndromes will be some of the themes of the Meeting. In the blood transfusion sessions, advances in blood management and conservation, critical bleeding and patient safety will be covered. The haemostasis/thrombosis sessions will focus on recurrent venous thrombosis, anti-platelet therapy, and microparticles in normal and abnormal coagulation and the Nurses programme will reflect the continuing evolution of care, knowledge and diversity in haematology nursing as well as the development of advanced nursing roles in transfusion, transplantation, malignant haematology, apheresis and haemophilia. Thirteen prominent international speakers will join force with local experts to challenge and to educate us in lectures, masterclasses and informal discussions. A state-of-the art trade display will update on cutting edge technology and therapy.
The main shopping area and the bustling Central Market with its famous surrounding gourmet scene are all within a short walking distance of the Convention Centre. You may also enjoy visiting the numerous wine-making centres in the Barossa and Clare Valleys, the Adelaide Hills and McLaren Vale on day trips or take the shortcut to the wine barrel inspired National Wine Centre on the fringes of the city. The Adelaide Hills will be calling you from the east and the long beaches from the west and you could also watch the dolphins frolicking on the Port River.
Take the break to meet your colleagues and to relax in Adelaide while feasting on the fabulous programme of the Conference.
