Abstracts

GUIDELINES FOR FORMATTING ABSTRACTS

You are invited to submit informative abstracts of up to 300 words. Abstracts should be written as a Word document and can be submitted with this form (see below. The abstract should be typed single spaced with margins of 2.5 cm. Do not leave a blank line between paragraphs. The headings (see below) should be in bold text. If the abstract includes tables, graphs, other images or symbols, please forward a hard copy to the ASM Secretariat so that a manual comparison can be made. Please only use standard abbreviations or define them in full. Whilst every effort will be made to ensure the reproduction of symbols, accuracy of symbols cannot be guaranteed in the reproduction. Please use Arial, Times or Times New Roman font. The font size should be 11 points or greater.

Abstracts must be submitted according to guidelines.
Please note: accuracy is the responsibility of the author- please ensure that you proof read your document carefully.

Abstract Title

Please write the title in Title Case (each main word has a capital letter). Do not use quotation marks.
e.g. The Results of the Research Case Study and Its Participants

Leave one blank line between the title and authors/affiliations

Authors and Affiliations

The full names (no initials) of all participating authors (including yourself) must be included on the abstract. Please do not include degrees or professional titles.

Author Affiliations - please include the name of your organisation, the city, the state, and the country. Use a superscript number to link each author with their affiliation.

Abstract Text

Abstracts that merely state the results that will be presented will be subject to rejection. All abstracts are subject to review by the Program Committee and acceptance into the program is not guaranteed. The Committee suggests that the abstract follow the format outlined below.

Aim
State concisely why the study was conducted
Method
Indicate the locale, sample number, principal test(s) performed, and the types of statistical analysis employed
Result
Confirm or refute the hypothesis, supported by statistics if appropriate
Conclusion
State the effect of the study on future patient management or the understanding of basic processes
