Keynote Speakers
| Ian M Adcock, | | Ian M Adcock is Professor of Respiratory Cell & Molecular Biology and Head of the Molecular Cell Biology Group at the National Heart and Lung Institute, Imperial College London. He is an internationally recognised scientist in the field of airway disease and inflammation. His major research areas include the effects of corticosteroids on inflammatory mediators in asthma and COPD, and his long-term interest in the mechanisms underlying steroid insensitivity in severe asthma and COPD |
| Peter J Barnes, | | Peter J Barnes is Professor of Thoracic Medicine and Head of Airway Disease at the National Heart and Lung Institute and Honorary Consultant Physician at Royal Brompton Hospital, London. His research is focused on cellular and molecular mechanisms of asthma and COPD, understanding and developing therapies and research into biomarkers for these diseases. He is also involved in multidisciplinary translational research, integrating basic science with clinical studies, providing novel insights into common airway diseases. |
| José G Venegas, USA | | Jose Venegas is Associate Professor of Bioengineering at Harvard Medical School and the Department of Anaesthesia, Critical Care and Pain Medicine at the Massachusetts General Hospital, USA. He is a scientist working in the areas of asthma, COPD and ARDS, combining functional and structural imaging, with Positron Emission Tomography (PET) and CT, with computational modeling to investigate the pathophysiology of disease. His novel computational model of asthmatic bronchoconstriction has had a major impact on the understanding of the mechanisms of asthma physiology. His more recent work includes measuring intrapulmonary inflammation and aerosol deposition PET. |
