CONGRATULATIONS TO JENNY
Jenny Davies, co-founder of FCC, is now a grandmother. Jenny's daughter Nadine and her partner Paul are the proud parents of Raechel, born 25 September 2008 at 6.46 am, weighing in at 3.28 kgs. We look forward to seeing your granny brag book, Jenny.
WHEAT GENETICISTS GATHER IN BRISBANE FCC's most recent event was the International Wheat Genetics Symposium, held at the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre in late August. 400 wheat breeders from 36 countries spent a week exchanging news about their research and latest developments.
In addition to the science, delegates and their partners attended a performance of the Australian Outback Spectacular, visited Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary and enjoyed a wheat beer tasting during the Conference Dinner held at The Gabba Function Centre.
After the Symposium, 30 delegates enjoyed a Field Tour visiting key research organisations near Brisbane.
FCC staff went on their own pre-conference tour - spending a very enjoyable sunny morning whale-watching off the Gold Coast, and the afternoon driving through to Mount Tambourine. There they visited the Witches Chase Cheese factory and can highly recommend the triple cream brie. If you are heading that way, it is well worth the detour.
